7/30/16 –
We had a wonderful Day of Mindfulness today. We practiced together from 9am to 3pm. The day used two main texts. The first text was Touching the Earth to our Land Ancestors. This practice comes from Thich Nhat Hahn’s 2010 book “Together We Are One, Honoring our Diversity, Celebrating our Connection” When we touched the earth, we remembered our African American, Asian and Pacific Islander, European American, Latino/a, and Native American Ancestors. The other text we read and discussed is “Directing the Mind Towards Practices in Diversity” by Larry Yang, which can be found in the 2002 book “Friends Along the Path:Living Spiritual Communities”. We also took time for sitting and walking meditation, and for mindful eating – and of course singing some practice songs.

Everyone thought the day was successful, and we hope to offer it again in the future.
