The Sangha is an inclusive community

The Mindfulness Community of Greater New Orleans (MCGNO) celebrates and promotes respect for all individuals. Firmly ensconced in the Buddhist tradition of inclusiveness, we hold inclusivity and equality as primary values.  We recognize that wisdom, insight, and the nurturing of compassion and loving-kindness are enhanced by our appreciation and understanding of diversity in all aspects of human endeavor. A stable  practice fosters inclusivity and unity through the cultivation of such understanding and appreciation.

Our shared understanding of diversity is inclusive of, but not limited to, racial equality, ethnicity, religious belief, sexual orientation, gender, disability, socioeconomic status, national origin, immigration status, and age. Diversity in our sangha is not just essential to our practice, but central to our moral duty and commitment to overcome and transform the suffering of racism, bigotry and discrimination in all forms.
